Interesting New Traditions -
In both secular and religious ceremonies, it is common to use a unity candle. However, in the past few years, there’s been an added twist: the wine unity ceremony. In this ceremony, the bride and groom pour from two separate bottles into a single cup and both drink from it. Another option, particularly appropriate for beach weddings, is to have the bride and groom pick up a handful of sand from separate containers and drop it into a larger vessel. Such a practice helps to underscore the idea that the bride and the groom are uniting as one during the marriage ceremony.
The Role of Color -
Color is also an important consideration for a wedding. Popular wedding planners now try to avoid white linens because they have become so commonplace. Instead, you might use several shades of green, including sage and forest, and pair those green table coverings with beige napkins. You might even use green votive candles in order to give your reception a special glow. Another hot wedding color is chocolate brown, which can be teamed up with pale blue or pink. You can use this intriguing color combination for just about everything, from bridesmaid dresses to wedding favors.
Food and Beverage Stations -
Another relatively new popular trend is the food and beverage station. For instance, you might consider erecting a lemonade stand to accommodate guests as they arrive for the reception. Another possibility is a Spanish-inspired paella stand or a sushi food station. You might try complementing the food stations with ethnically inspired entertainment such as Mexican mariachi bands or Japanese drummers.
Whatever new trends you decide to incorporate into your special day, be sure you select items that are uniquely you. Remember, this is your day, one you will remember and cherish for the rest of your life.
