PROPOSAL STORIES ...

Sept. 30th We were on vacation in North Carolina, visiting his grandparents. My fiance, his sister, his cousin, and I, were all going for a walk on the beach. I went to put my shoes on in the other room. When I returned, everyone decided to stay home. My fiance and I went for the walk alone. As we were about to leave, my fiance wrote "I Love You" in the sand. When I turned around, he had written "Will you Marry Me" in the sand and was on one knee. I said "YES". The funny part was when we returned back to the house. Everyone knew he was going to propose, so they were looking at my finger, but the ring was too big, so I couldn't wear it. No one wanted to ask, just in case he got scared and didn't do it. They didn't want to ruin the surprise. My fiance and I just played along for a while, until they couldn't take it anymore and asked.

Oct. 15th I had just turned 21 and went to a casino for the first time with my family and boyfriend of 2 years. My boyfriend proposed a toast with wine and since I'm not much of a drinker he knew he would have to persuade me to drink a taste. I held my nose with one hand and took a drink. It was SOOO nasty. He asked me to take another drink and I asked him to trade me because he had less in his glass. He wouldn't and when I was fixing to take ONE last little sip, I saw the ring in the clear pink wine. I took it out, he got down on one knee, asking me to marry him and I said YES!

Oct. 16th We had just had a baby a couple weeks earlier, and were still getting used to all of the things that needed to be done. I had been home all day with the baby and was really tired, so when my boyfriend came home I asked him to take the garbage out. He said no, he would do it later, knowing that I would do it myself then. So I brought it out and came back inside, I asked him if he changed the baby's diaper. He said no, and I asked him to then do it. He again said no, and I asked him again to do it, and he told me to. I then got mad at him, and went to do it myself. So I started undressing the baby, and noticed some writing on his onesie. As I looked closer, it said "Mommy, will you marry Daddy?" Well, of course I started crying, and I really felt dumb for getting mad at him. I should have known that there was something going on! Now that onesie is in his baby book!

Oct. 18th We went to Eureka Springs for the weekend and he took me to this beautiful lake called Beaver Lake and I was sitting on a rock watching the water and he bent on his knee and asked if I would grow old with him...

Oct. 30th This guy and I had a somewhat rocky start to our relationship. We started seeing each other but then sort of just stopped talking all of a sudden. I was bummed because he doesn't not believe in marriage. It is "just a piece of paper that ties some one down to broken promises" he said. I was heartbroken. I couldn't think of anyone but him. Everyone I tried to date, I would make the comparison. No one ever came close to him. Four months later, he shows up at my work out of no where. We dated for another two months. Then he joined the air force and moved to Texas. I went to see him graduate in June. We weren't allowed to kiss or hold hands or anything of the like. So we are sitting on this old brown leather couch...about 4 feet apart. He's babbling on...and I'm zoning out. Then I heard...blah blah blah and i want you to be my wife. I wanted to attack him with kisses!! Unfortunately I couldn't. Our wedding is in December...but we've already eloped...shhh.

Oct. 31th We planned a trip to Linville Falls NC and rode down to Grandfather Mountain for the day. It snowed the whole time we were there, it was so beautiful. We walked down this trail that led to an overlook. We were sitting there admiring the beauty when he stood up got on his knee and asked me to marry him. It was perfect!! I know you are all thinking that is typical but you haven't heard the best part yet. I had no idea at all, I didn't even know he was thinking about it. Half an hour before he asked me I said,"Whenever you asked me to marry you I want you to do it some place like here"! He smiled and said,"I will remember that"!!

Nov. 4th We had looked at rings and both knew we were going to be married, but I had always wanted to be surprised by a proposal and I didn't want to pick out my own ring. Well, we were having our pictures made together supposedly because his mother wanted some portraits for her collection since she didn't have any of us together. It was pretty casual; we were having the pictures taken at J.C. Penney's, and we both had dressed pretty casual. We finally went in after the photagrapher set things up and she had us both kneeling, facing each other on some platform. I thought it seemed pretty odd but had no idea what was in mind. "I want you a little closer", she said, "facing each other." Then she said, "Are you ready?" and with that, he pulled the little box out of his pocket and asked me to marry him; simple as that. The photographer snapped the camera and captured the expression on my face (in which my eyes and mouth were wide open with surprise), and I accepted, of course! So all my wishes had come true; I was surprised, it was unique, and he chose the ring. It was just more special that way.

Nov. 9th My boyfriend proposed to me in the car while we were on vacation. We drove from the Newfoundland ferry to the PEI ferry in Caribou, Nova Scotia, and just as we pulled up the ferry was leaving the dock. I was really disappointed that we missed it because I was looking forward to the getting out of the car for a while and just relaxing as we crossed to PEI. At that point, we decided to take a little pee and snack break and then we would drive the extra few hours to cross on the Confederation Bridge. My boyfriend went inside the terminal to get snacks and came back with a bag of cracker jacks. I had told him before that I loved cracker jacks as a kid so I was happy that he was thinking!!!! Of course, inside was my ring. First I found the cracker jack surprise (a sticker) and played with that for a while, then I found my ring. SURPRISE SURPRISE!!! Needless to say, I was smiling all the way to PEI!

Nov. 15th My boyfriend and I went out to dinner for our two year dating anniversary. After we had finished the main course the waiter cleared the table and asked if we wanted desert. We told him that we did and he returned with a cake box. He told me that inside was the sweetest desert that they had at the restaurant and asked my opinion. He opened the box and inside was a cake. Lacie will you marry me was written on top of it. My mouth dropped and I began to cry. I turned to look at my boyfriend. He was on one knee with the ring in front of him on the table. He told me that he loved me and that he wanted to spend that rest of his life with me. I hugged him and of course said yes.

Dec. 10th On my 23rd birthday, he came over all dressed up pretending he just came from work. He made me get ready and told me he had to go get his satelitte fixed before we went to dinner. We ended up at this gorgeous park and I wasn't expecting anything. We walked around and he was really sweet, when he asked "Isn't this a nice place to take wedding pictures?". I agreed and we talked about that for a while. Then he asked me if I loved him and he told me he loved me as he got down on one knee and pulled out a little box from his pocket. He asked me to marry him right there, and I said yes. I thought that was the end of it but when we went back to the car, a limo pulled up to take us downtown. I was so overwhelmed with happiness. He took me to the restaurant we went to on our first month anniversary and it was the most romantic evening.

Dec. 21st With the birth of 8 new puppies, my brother in law saved one for me at my request. My girlfriend gave me 100 reasons under the sun why I couldn't have one. On Thanksgiving when we headed over to my Brother in Laws for Turkey Dinner, I had him set aside my choice of the litter. On the car ride over to his house I explained to Mary how there was something at my brother in laws, something that I have been wanting for my entire life, something that would make me happy for the rest of my life. But there was one thing standing between me and happiness and that was her with an answer of Yes or No. She exclaimed " why are you so damn serious about a dog?" I left it at that. When we arrived, Mary, being a dog lover, could not wait to see the new puppies. So she rushed in the house and came to find one single dog sitting in cage all alone with a tag around it's neck with the inscription -MARY KAZ, WILL YOU MARRY ME! At first site of this she turned to see me on one knee with ring in hand waiting for an answer. She dropped the dog and gave me a hug and kiss and said YES! I now have a beautiful Fiance' and the cutest damn puppy!

Dec. 24th He called early in the morning and told me romantic things over the phone and asked me to marry him. I said yes and he told me to go down to the basement and there was my dog, Sparky, with a ring attached to his collar.

Dec. 26th It was December 22nd, and my fiance had arranged for a good friend of ours to pick me up and take me shopping so that he could have a couple of hours to wrap my gifts. The only stipulation was that she not bring me back before it got dark outside. When I got home I noticed there were no gifts wrapped, but didn't think anything of it. I also noticed some electronic items were unplugged and their extension cords missing. I thought that was a little strange, but I still had absolutely no idea what was coming. My fiance asked me to step outside to see something. He then handed me a plug and said "plug this in". He had written "Will U Marry Me" in Christmas lights in our front yard! He then got down on one knee, asked the question...and through my tears of joy, I managed to get out a YES!

Dec. 26th It was late Christmas Eve, and my boyfriend and I had just finished assembling a bunkbed for his daughter and helping Santa lay out his gifts for Christmas Morning. We both sat down on the couch, exhausted, and cuddled together. He pushed himself an arm's length away, so that we could look into each other's eyes, and said, "Cassie, I love you so much. You are my life, and I want to spend the rest of my life holding you in my arms, just like tonight. That's why I have to do this." He then stood up, walked over to our beautifully lit Christmas tree, and pulled a golden bell ornament from it. He brought it over to me, got down on one knee, and lo and behold, the bell was actually a hinged ring box! He asked me to marry him, and I told him, "of course I will! That was my favorite present of the Christmas Season!

Dec. 28th Ours is truly a dream come true. We met Aug 1, 1998 and it was love at first sight. I knew then and there he was the special guy I have been waiting for. I am 45 years old and never been married. We have been together 4 years but seems like lifetime. Our dream will come true. Romantic setting Christmas 2000 in front of our loved ones he asked me to marry him and I was totally in shock and didn't answer right away. We videotaped the party and the looks were unbelievable. After postponing the wedding twice, we will finally be together Aug 1, 2002 today, tomorrow always. It is like a dream come true. We have been through more than couples married 20 years in the short time we have been together. He makes me happier every day and I know that together we can deal with anything and can't wait to start our life as one. I love you Craig. August 1, 2002 don't be late.

Dec. 28th It was christmas and while we were sitting in bed and talking Darren( my Boyfriend) presented me with my present was a gift basket with chocolates, bubblebath, flowers and my favorite book that I had been wanting for a while. Nestled amoungst the tissue paper ( on the bottom of the basket)was a box ( not a ring box) and I opened it then there was the ring box! and there was my beautiful wedding ring, the funny thing was that we were going to my relatives that day for christmas BUT we spent the day by ourselves at the beach!

Dec. 29th It was Christmas eve at my parents house. After we had unwrapped all our gifts we were just hanging around talking. My boyfriend was going to ask my father his blessing for my hand but my father decided to go to bed without telling anyone. My boyfriend had missed his chance. So after a few hours we left and went back home. It was 3 am and I was so tired, I just wanted to go to sleep. But my boyfriend insisted I stay awake so he could give me another gift. I eventually caved in and stayed up. He told me to sit at the table and he took out his guitar. He has been playing for only a month. He started to sing "Fools Rush In" by Elvis. I was amazed at how good he sounded. Near the end of the song he told me to open and read a card that was on the table. I did. It was a proposal card. But I wasn't sure that's what it was so I didn't jump to any conclusions. At this point I had tears in my eyes because of the song and the beautiful card. He asked me if I read the card right! I said "I think so" and then he took out the ring in a box. I opened it, still not sure this was happening, The ring was beautiful so I jumped in his arms. He asked me what my answer was and I asked him what his question was just to make sure he was actually proposing. He said,"will you be my wife?" and I screamed "YES". First thing next morning, my fiance called my father to make it official.

Jan. 4th Nick proposed at one of our most memorable places, Captree State Park on West Islip, Long Island, New York. We left work promptly at 5:30 p.m. heading east bound on the LIRR at Hicksville where Nick parked the car. We drove nearly 30 miles which I had no clue as to where we were going. We vaguely remember how far Captree State Park was, but remember that night where we sat in the car to talk, back in January 1997. We got out of the car into the darkness and started to walk on the boardwalk. He told me that he had a surprise for me and had me turn around where the view of Fire Island was calm and a clear night. Then I was allowed to turn around to see a little box wrapped up perfectly for Valentine's Day. Nervously, I opened the box shaking from the cold and saw a ring sparkling in the darkness. Nick then got down on his hands and knees taking my hand and popped the question. Overwhelmed with joy, I said yes throwing myself at Nick with a bear hug. We then went to the nearest place (Seaford Palace Diner) to eat since we were far from home and had a nice late dinner.

Jan. 19th Well, we've been together for about two years and ever since we've been together, we knew it was meant to be. Anyway, we went out to dinner on December 22, to the Striped Bass in Philadelphia. He treated me like a princess all night long. He said that this was a gift for me because he wanted to get me a ring but he just couldn't afford it right now. After dinner, we went to Xando's Coffee Shop and had s'mores over a fire. Then we took a taxi to 6th street and Chestnut and stood on the corner for a while. All of a sudden a horse-and-buggy comes up the road. We got on it and snuggled under a warm blanket. A few minutes later he told me that he loved me and that we have lots of fun together and he wants to have fun for the rest of our lives. Then he pulled out the ring and said "Will you be my wife?" The best part is that as soon as he asked me, the church bells started ringing. It was like God was letting us know that we were doing the right thing.

Jan. 25th My girlfriend and I had decided to go to a remote set of cabins in the Rocky mountains. You can drive most of the way but the last 5 miles has to be done on foot. It was quite treacherous going and there were many times I sat down and slid down the steep rocks. When we arrived, who was there to meet us but both our boyfriends. My girlfriend had known about this arrangement previously but hadn't let on a bit. It turned out they had booked two cabins, one for each couple. The cabin had no electricity and was very small. The only thing that seperated the bedroom from the living area was a curtain. That night, after dark, he asked me to go sit on the bed for a few minutes. I had no idea what he was doing. When he called me, I opened the curtain to find the whole room filled with beautiful candles, a bottle of champagne on the table with two beautiful crystal glasses. I was astounded that he could have carried all this in on his back! He had me sit at the table and he got down on one knee, opened the ring box and... The rest is history. 8-))))

Jan. 25th We had been dating just shy of four years when I left for University in New Brunswick. It was a hard transition to make but we did it. He stayed in Ottawa. Shortly after the beginning of classes I was diagnosed with Mononucleosis and couldn't get out of bed. My boyfriend was planning to come out to see me but when I got sick, I told him not to come. He insisted and was there less than a week later. While he was there, I was miserable and tired. I would crawl out of bed and sleep on the floor because I couldn't stand the touch of him. But I guess it didn't phase him. We spent four days in bed watching movies and drinking juice. He was so wonderful and took care of me the whole time. Saturday night was a particularly bad night for me and I was real nasty. In a frustrated fit I left the room to go to the bathroom. When I returned, my room door was locked. I banged and banged on the door demanding to know what was going on. I could hear music in my room and movement and I wanted in. He opened the door and swept me into a great hug. He started to tell me how much he loved me and how much I fulfilled his life. Before I knew it I was crying and couldn't hear a word he said. The ring was so beautiful and reflected our love so much. I couldn't believe it. Later, I made him do it again because he forgot to get down on one knee. He asked me if I remembered what he said before and I swear I don't remember a word he said. Now when I look back on the proposal I think...If he could love me when I was that awful and sick...he'll love me forever. And he will. It was the most wonderful moment of my life and I'll love him always and forever.

Jan. 31st We were in Disney World and I was so anxious to go swimming that I didn't even notice my fiance was on one knee! I was trying to get my bathing suit on and his exact words were ..." I would be honored if you would be my wife..now put some clothes on!" Gee...I thought comments like that came after 50 years of marrage! We are happily getting married this August..

Feb. 8th We bought a house (new construction) so we had been watching it go up for a few months. We were very excited on closing day (July 28, 2000). We had decided that we were going to move all of our stuff the next day but we would spend the first night in our new house sleeping on the living room floor. We packed a bottle of wine and dishes for two and got chinese take-out for dinner. While I was getting the dishes together, he was setting up boxes to make a table. We enjoyed our dinner and I didn't expect anything. He handed me a fortune cookie - I opened it up to read my fortune and it said, "Confuscious says, 'Those who share a mortgage together are together forever.' Confuscious' wife says, 'Bullshit! I want a diamond!'" As I looked up slightly confused, he was on one knee with the ring in his hand asking me to marry him! I was so excited and surprised I'm not even sure exactly how I replied but I know there was a yes in there somewhere! Since we always share our fortunes with each other, he opened his which read, "Did he ask you yet?" I'll never forget that night. It worked out well that we didn't have a phone or anything because we were able to just spend that night alone and spread the exciting news the next day. He also knew that we would be exhausted from moving so he planned a great get-away for the day after the move.

Feb. 13th From the Bride`s point of view: Jeff and I 'LOVE' Sting (of the Police). It was I who turned Jeff into a fan, though he`ll tell you quite opposite. We attended the August 2000 concert in Dallas, Texas where we sat outside under the stars in a gigantic field surrounded by walls (what is now Smirnoff Theater). We spread out our green blanket onto the grass, sitting in anticipation as the stage became alive with the opening act. Through the hour long program, we talked, cuddled, and breathed the music in. After the stage silenced, we watched as it was being prepared for Sting. I grabbed for my binaculars, hoping to catch a glimpse of my favorite singer. As I was completely focused on the stage, I felt someone pulling my arm down. Hearing Jeff`s voice, I shoved back, not wanting to take my eyes off the activity in front of me. Finally, in a stern voice, Jeff says, "Keri, LOOK!" so I looked. On the 3 bus-sized tv monitors in front of me, the 'word' appeared..."SHMILY". 'S! 'ee 'H'ow' 'M'uch 'I' 'L'ove 'Y'ou. A word very significant to only Jeff and myself. My body felt like it had just run a 10 mile marathon. My heart raced. I couldn`t believe sitting in a crowd of thousands, I was looking up to see this special message that was from no one else but Jeff. I felt like a Starlette. (oh, it gets better) "Oh, my GOD! How did you do that?" I yelled to him. Turning to look at him for a second, I see him lying there on his side, propped up on his elbow with his hands together, holding a small item. Things are moving pretty fast now and I`m overwhelmed with all these fantastic happenings. He just smiles and shrugs and says, "...this goes with it."

Feb. 19th Ken and Nichole had been boyfriend/girlfriend for four years. Nichole was getting a little annoyed that the relationship wasn't going to the next level, but Ken was stubborn. "Marriage is just a legality," he would say, "It's just a piece of paper. Why do I need to put on a big show to prove to the world that I love you? I committed myself to you long ago and I have four years under my belt to prove it." But his song and dance around marriage was getting old, and he knew it. She was his everything. But after all these years of being unabashedly "anti-marriage", how could he propose to her in a believable and special enough way? He knew that if he was going to do it, he had to do it BIG. Fortunately for him, he was a painter. Even more fortunately, he painted sets for the world famous Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. The theater would provide for him the ultimate venue to produce the big event. That fall's Shakespeare production was "Loves Labours Lost." The set was a gorgeous, multi-level Victorian church motif with beautiful murals that mechanically scrolled through all four seasons. The "Spring" setting was a perfect backdrop for romance. Another interesting thing about that set was the custom-built elevator that lifted several different statues up to stage level from below the deck. As Ken watched the "Loves Labours Lost" set come together, an idea started to form in his head that would change his and Nichole's lives forever. It took him three months to organize, but on October 16, 2000 he was poised to attempt the scariest performance of his life. It happened like this: For several weeks before the big night Nichole was led to believe that she and Ken would be attending a performance of Shakespeare's "Loves Labours Lost". Meanwhile, Ken had scripted an entirely different event to take place. On the big night, friends, family and co-workers of the couple invited by Ken came early and filled the seats of the theater to be the special audience. As Ken pretended to be running late for the play, friends subtly coerced Nichole to the theatre and ushered her into a designated seat. As soon as Nichole was where they wanted her, the running crew, who all had volunteered to help Ken, dimmed the house lights and began to play special music over the speakers. As the show lights faded up Ken, wearing a tuxedo was lifted up through the stage floor on a hidden elevator. Until this point, Nichole still had no idea that anything was out of place, and even when she saw Ken literally rise up out of the stage floor dressed to nines she thought, "What is Ken doing in this play?" It was only when Ken stepped off the elevator and began to speak that Nichole was hit with what was really going on. The first word out of Ken's mouth was , "Love." He paused, and then repeated, "Love. What can you do? For some people it happens in a flash, but for people like me - people who you might say are cautious . . .okay, scared. For people like me, Love has to move on tiptoes and catch you bit by bit. It can be a slow process, but it happens. It definitely happens." He went on to perform a short speech that he had written about the simple moments that lead to love, the small things about Nichole that had captured his heart, and then called Nichole up onto the stage. This was the part he had been most worried about. He was worried she might be so shocked that she'd just run out of the building, but in a daze she left her seat and joined him on stage. Ken took her hand and said a few words, but when he reached the point where he was supposed to ask "the big question" he pretended to forget his line. In the great old theatrical fashion he called offstage, "Line!" and sign was flown in from above that read, "Will you marry me, Nichole?" Ken then got to his knees, produced the ring (a beautiful marquis-cut diamond) and asked her the question on the sign. Her answer was an immediate "Yes!" and flower petals showered down from a computer-operated machine above the stage. As they embraced under the bright lights, the special audience gave them a heartfelt standing ovation. It was magical, emotional, overwhelming, and perfect.

Feb. 28th My fiancee and I have been together 7 years. He had to pick me up from work one day and he heard something wrong with the car. He pulled over on the highway and started looking under the car, he came over to my side, opened my door, got down on one knee and proposed to me!!!!!!!!

Mar. 1st My fiance and I were on a back-packing trip in Paris. After walking around (lost) for the whole day, we ended up back at the hotel room. Aching and tired, my fiance decided he wanted to go to the Eiffel tower and take pictures of it at night. After I complained and nagged about my feet, he finally got me to keep up and go "sightseeing". When were under the Eiffel tower, where I tried to bargain one of the vendors for a silly laser pointer, he told me his knee hurt, so we sat on one of the benches under the tower. He kept going on and on about how if I moved in with him at his new duty station my parents would be mad. I kinda figured what he was going to do, so I decided to tease him a little and I changed the subject. Finally after 30 minutes, he romantically proposed to me. I knew that I was definitely in love with my soulmate, and I love him every day more and more.......

Mar. 7th My fiance, Chris, likes to sing. And he also loves country music. We had not been dating very long, but when you know he's the one, you just KNOW. It was the day of my sister's wedding, and we went back to his house to pick up his country suit for the wedding. I started to notice that he looked very nervous, and realized that something was going on. He started to recite this journal entry he had written about me, about how he wanted to be the man of my dreams and how he wanted us to know each other's love forever. Then he put on Garth Brook's song "To Make You Feel My Love". After the song was over, heart still thumping, he got down on both knees, and popped the question. It was very romantic. Then we went back to the church to get ready for my sister's wedding! We're getting married on June 28 in 2003. One sister getting married after the next. It's very cool.

Mar. 13th My boyfriend left me at a friends house the night before Valentines and said he was going out to play pool with a friend. Well the next morning he asked if he could open his Valentines gift from me and I said yes. So he told me that mine would be delivered to my office later that day. When he dropped me off at work on Valentines morning he said call me when you get your gift. When I walked inside my office it was filled with balloons, flowers and gift boxes on my desk. I called him before opening any gift boxes and told him how much I loved him and thank you and then he asked me to open up the gifts, well the first box I opened was a precious moments with a little boy that said I'll Always Love you and the second gift box was another precious moments collectible that had a boy and a girl sitting on Love Seat and he was showing her a little box with a ring inside and the message said "Say I Do", it was so beautiful, I was speechless on the phone. But I said Yes ! of Course. We are getting married next year in March.

Mar. 16th Men can be romantic! My honey was studying in France which gave me the perfect opportunity to get in a little vacation with him. I flew over to Paris to meet up with him and spend 5 days there. On the second night he took me to see the Eiffel Tower. We watched the sunset from the very top over the whole city of Paris. On our way down we went into some of the shops and then down to the bottom. It was evening by this time so the Tower was all lit up in a beautiful shade of gold. He said he wanted to take a picture of me in front of it with the beautiful light. Not realizing that he didn't have a flash on his camera agreed. We walked to the little courtyard that is attached called the Champs de Mars. We stood there for a few moments remarking on the beauty of the night and what a perfect day we had. He asked me if I thought the day could be any better than it was. I didn't think so... until he got down on one knee, opened up a ring box to reveal a beautiful ring, and asked me if I would marry him. Never could I have imagined a more beautiful proposal, in front of a lit up Eiffel Tower in the middle of Paris. Then of course, I had to call all of my family from a phone cabin near by to tell them all... they all knew in advance and were waiting for my call. I must admit, I have one of the most wonderful and romantic fiancees in this world.

Mar. 18th The theater company I work for was doing a play about football and it was a great show for me to try to get Anthony's friends to because they're the perfect audience (I'm the marketing manager after all...) So, he saw it and said that he'd try to get them to all come on one night where we have a Q & A with the artistic staff and the audience. I said great but thought it would never happen. But all of a sudden, a bunch of them are agreeing to go but of course I didn't think anything of it. So, my bosses asked me to lead the talkback because I was planning to be there that night - they apparently knew all along - so I did. Anyway, we get to the last question and Anthony raises his hand so I call on him thinking that he'd whine about later it if I don't. And he starts to thank the actor for a wonderful show but says he really has a question for me. Then he stands up, walks on stage, onto one knee - don't ask me what else he said at this point because I was too busy crying and shaking, all I saw was a beautiful shiny thing in a box. He whispers to me that I have to answer him and I managed a nodding squealing motion and look out and see that my parents, his family, plus friends who I already knew were there, have all snuck into the audience. It was just great and surreal and fun. We went for drinks and then Anthony took me to the Helmsley Park Lane hotel by Central Park where he's set up rose petals everywhere and candles and Hershey's Kisses spelling out I Love You and Marry Me. It was just great and I'm still reeling.

Mar. 19th My boyfriend and I are highschool sweethearts and have known since we met that we were right for each other. On the Saturday before Christmas I went to the gym like I normally did and when I got in the door there were candles with rose petals around them placed from the front door going upstairs to the bedroom. On the bedroom door there was a note saying that I have always wished for different things and although he hasn't been able to do everything for me that if I knock 3 times on the door and make a wish my wish might come true. I knocked and opened the door and when I walked inside, the room was filled with candles and the stereo was playing our favourite slow songs and there he was on bended knee with a ring in his hand and dressed in the suit which he wore when he brought me to our highschool graduation. He asked if I would marry him and I said YES!!!!

Mar. 20th I decided to plan my proposal to my girlfriend on February 12, 2002. I had a trip planned for the following day, and our families were expecting me to propose soon after my trip, so I decided to propose to her when everyone least expected it. I already had the engagement ring ready for my proposal, so all I had to do was make the preparations for the proposal. She had always wanted a fairy tale proposal, so I wanted to make it a proposal out of the story book. I went shopping with her a few days before the proposal and she stopped me and showed me a beautiful evening dress that she would love to have, so the following day I bought the dress and had it wrapped up real nice as an early Valentine Day present. This way she could have alterations done before the big date. She was very surprised and cried loving tears when she opened the present. She also was able to have alterations completed by the due time. I decided I wanted to match her beauty in the dress (if that is possible), so I rented a tux that matched the dress perfectly. However, she was not aware of the tuxedo and other preparations I made after the dress. I also decided to rent a limo for the evening. I decided to buy her a Precious Moments figurine that showed a boy proposing to a girl, and that would actually set up the proposal. The morning of the proposal, I asked her parents for their blessing in our marriage, and they freely gave their blessings. Therefore, when the limo arrived, I rode the limo in my rented tux to her house to pick her up. She was completely surprised! Of course, we had to take pictures of this wonderful memory at her house, and she was very excited, but she still had no clue that I was going to propose to her that very evening. After the limo dropped us off at the restaurant with our reservations, we both decided to bring in one gift for each other into the restaurant. After our wonderful dinner, I handed my gift to her to open. As she opened the gift, a bewildered expression crossed her face. At that time I took a knee and pulled out the engagement ring box, and grabbed her hand. By this time she was beginning to figure out what was happening, and she began to cry. I asked her if she would spend the rest of her life with me, and received the most wonderful positive reply with a passionate kiss. That evening we rode the limo to each of our respective family's homes and shared the wonderful news. I will never forget that blessed day when I gave my heart completely to my wonderful fiancee. I love her and will continue to love her for all eternity.

Apr. 3rd I knew a month into dating my then boyfriend that he was the one I was going to marry. We had been dating for over year and it was my third year of cheering with the Saskatchewan Roughrider Trailblazers. It was the big Labour Day game all of Saskatchewan waits for and I was sad when Dennis announced he was going camping with his buddies for the long weekend. I said good-bye to him on Saturday not expecting to see him until Monday afternoon. During the game on Sunday I was asked to escort a raffle winner onto the field. My squad lined the field with goofy grins on their faces and I wondered why they were out of order. All of the sudden a local radio announcer said there was a change of plans and.....out walked my boyfriend decked out in a tuxedo! A huge smile on his face appeared when he saw my surprised face. He asked me to marry him in front of 30,000 people with all of my family and his in the stands. He gave me a beautiful ring and I said "Yes" into the microphone. I didn't know a thing and he planned it (with the help of the folks at the Rider Office)without giving any hints up. I was so happy that day, words can't describe my feelings. The funny thing was we were to perform about a minute after the proposal, so after all that excitement, I was supposed to keep my composure and dance on the field. Whew!

Apr. 12th Well my boyfriend and I had decided to visit Victoria, BC about 2 hours from where I live. We rented our hotel room and he said that he wanted to go and look at the Government buldings. I thought "what" but I did not want to burst his bubble of seeing the Goverment buildings all lit up. So we paid to park and got out and walked along the water front. He said that he wanted to sit down and check out the view. I did not want to as it was really cold but I did to make him happy. Just joking I said "you better have a ring for making me sit out here in the cold". I got up and told him that I would meet him in a near by resturant. He got upset and I said ok, I will stay and I sat down between his legs. He told me that he had my Easter gift, and he pulled out the box. I unwrapped it and opened the box to find the most beautiful ring. I started to cry and laugh........then I said YES!!!!!!

Apr. 17th Two days after a disappointing Valentines Day, he took me for my first plane ride. It was in one of those little Cessna planes. We flew over our town and other surrounding towns. He asked the pilot if he could fly over his parent's camp. He thought it would be nice to see what the camp road and lake looked like from up above. As we were flying over, the pilot asked me if I could see the camp and the skiddoo tracks all over the lake in front of the camp. Flying lower, I noticed little red letters, (acually 12 feet by 6 feet) WILL YOU MARRY ME? I thought it was a joke his older brother was playing! Then from the back seat of the plane Travis leaned over and held out box with the nicest ring I've ever seen. I cried. Our wedding will be in Sept!

Apr. 22nd We had broke off our engagement before due to problems, and I told him when I was ready I would put the ring back in his room. He found it that day, took me on the picnic and said "will you marry me again?" and I said "yes of course I will" We had a wonderfull picnic, and we are getting married next July.

Apr. 24th My fiance and I met online and after a long hard road, we have been living together for about 2 years. My company was having a big function and after spending a long time waiting while awards were being given out and speeches being given they finally got the DJ going and the bar was open. We danced a few dances and my fiance tied two balloons to my dress and asked me to leave them there. I was puzzled but thought ok he is just being silly. After a few more dances the Dj asked that everyone come to the dance floor and stand in a semi-circle. We all got up and did it thinking "oh great more awards blah" . When I looked up I saw my fiance standing on the stage with the DJ's microphone he asked that all the men come forward and turn in their keys. Puzzled by what he was asking I suddenly saw EVERY man I work with walking towards the stage and handing over their keys. Then my fiance said thank-you guys you won't be needing these anymore she is off the market( indicating that the guys were turning in my apt keys)He then asked that the pretty lady with the balloons tied to her dress come forward. Then with all the men I work with chanting "say yes" in the background behind him he told everyone how much he loved me and asked me to marry him. Now this may not seem like a big thing but my fiance is the most shy man on the planet. So getting up in front of all these people and doing this was amazing. What's more amazing is that he arranged the key joke when in the men's room. He told a few guys what he was planning and they took care of the rest. Needless to say everyone I work with wants to come to the wedding.

May 13th My boyfriend and I had our first baby 3 months earlier. It was Christmas morning and I gave him his presents. I have a 7yr. old daughter and a 5 yr. old son also.Everyone exchanged gifts, but there was not a gift under the tree, for me from my boyfriend. I was upset but I did not say anything. Later that night, we went to my grandparent's house for dinner and after we ate, he got down on one knee in front of my whole family and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said "Yes"!

May 17th It was Saturday May 4th, 2002. My fiancé had planned the whole thing in advance... all my friends and co-workers knew (I still don't know how everyone kept it a secret). My fiancé had mentionned us going out to meet a friend we hadn't seen in ages to Panorama (downtown lounge on the 52nd floor of the Manulife building/Toronto). We got there and all my closest friends were there... I have to admit that I kind suspected something was going on... but after dinner he got the ring out and got down on one knee and all I heard was; "I want to grow old with you..." that's when I started bawling and didn't hear the end of his proposal. I realized the day after that I still hadn't answered his question and said yes with a kiss when he woke up. Our wedding date is set for Sept. 28th, 2002

May 22nd Andrew had been planning to propose for 8 months. On May 2, we were leaving for Paris and he wanted to ask my dad if he could marry me. My dad was stuck in traffic, so he had to call him from the airport. On the 4th of May, we were going to the Eiffel Tower, but couldn't go all the way to the top because there were too many people already. Andrew proposed to me on the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower, facing the Arc de Triomphe on the night of our 4th anniversary of dating. It was a perfect evening, the lights were just coming on everywhere in the city. It was fabulous!

June 6th I had been dating Rosamae for 3 months and I already knew that we would be together forever. To understand this story you must understand Rosamae. She has never done anything bad, illegal or immoral her whole life. She never even cussed a day in her life. She in the nicest, most honest person I have ever met. I had asked Rosamae to go shopping with me to buy some new jeans. We were both in school and finals were coming up. I had been trying to get her to go shopping with me several nights of the week. She keep telling me that she was busy studying for Finals and didn't have time. Finally, I asked her to go to a mall on Saturday at 3 PM. She didn't understand why we had to have specific plans to go to the mall and buy a pair of jeans. We arrived at this really fancy mall, South Coast Plaza, and parked in the below parking structure. We proceeded to wonder around for a while. I had to somehow get her to leave through the front door of the first floor to get her to the place I had prearranged. I told her that I wanted to go to the other mall across the street. She was getting very frustrated because we had to go through certain doors and out towards a certain area. We exited the mall and were walking towards the crosswalk when a man approached us and identified himself a "Mall Security". He flashed a badge and told us that he believed that there was something in Rosamae's purse that belonged the Mall. We looked at each other and knowing that we had done nothing wrong allowed the officer to search through her purse. After what seemed like minutes, but was only seconds, he pulls out a small jewelry box. Rosamae looks at me with this astonishing look and says "I don't know where that came from, but that is not mine and I didn't put that in there!" She gives me a look like it is my turn to chime in and express our innocence. I give her back a look that says, "I can't believe you would do such a thing". After a moment of silence, the officer says, "we can do two things. One, we can go inside and talk about this...". Rosamae but in and says, "that's fine, because I didn't do this and..the officer buts back in and says, "Or you can marry Tom?" I grab the ring from the Officer, my cousin, and got down to one knee and said, "Will you marry me?". Rosamae has this extremely frustrated look on her face and says, right now, NO! My cousin left and Rosamae's Frustration turned to relief at the fact that she wasn't going to jail. The next morning I went to her house and she said she would love to be my eternal companion. We were married four months later. We were happily married for 10 years. She died 3 months ago from the effects of M.S.

June 17th It was my first day of work, and my fiance had a whole day planned for me that day, but since it was my first day of work i couldn't do the one thing that he had planned...go to a spa, anyways when I got to work I received a check for my orientation and, a "well it was nice having you for a day but you are fired"...well I went home and was in hysterics, and my fiance came home from work early. We had dinner reservations at a fine dining italian restaurant. We had our meal and were just getting desert, when he goes I just have to take of something, and of course I thought he meant that he had to go to the bathroom. but as he was leaving the table he bent down on one knee and proposed, in front of the whole restaurant. The couple beside us were crying, because it was really sweet. I will never forget it.

June 17th Valentine's morning 2001, I was alarmed because I had over slept for work and the doorbell was ringing out of control. I ran to the door because it seemed as though my parents couldn't hear the doorbell. When I got to the door, all I saw was a beautiful bouquet of purple roses (my favorite) and a stretch of heart shaped balloons down the walk way. I began to scream for my mother when I recognized the card in the flowers had my name on it. I ran back to my room to get my glasses so I could see :-). As I arrived back to the door, I realized that each balloon had a word on it. The words were: "Will" "You" "Marry"... As I ran out into the yard, I noticed my fiance' holding the balloon with the word "Me?" and the ring in his hand. He got on one knee and said a few wonderful words, as he asked me to marry him. Of course, I said "YES!" By this time, my parents (who were really happy about the whole thing) came out in the yard to tell me to go in the house and put on something other than my footed pajamas...(He proposed even with me in my "footed" PJ's. He drove from Columbia, SC to Augusta, GA that morning, just to surprise me! We were married in November of 2001, and the surprises are still coming. It's great! ;-}

July 25th My now finacee proposed to me at my senior prom 2002. He told me to go sit and we were just talking and he started in. He said "you know how much I love you right, so would you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?" Of course I said yes. Right after he asked me, our future wedding song came on and we danced our first dance being engaged. The song was I Swear by John Michael Montgomery.

July 25th I knew he had my ring, he accidently let it slip. But he wouldn't tell me when he was going to give it to me or let me see it. It was driving me crazy. It was around Christmas, and our college break was in a few days. He told me he wanted to take it home and let his mother and dad see it. I was heartbroken, I wanted to take it home with me and let my family see, not only my family, I WANTED TO SEE IT! The weekend before our Christmas break, on that Saturday, December 15, he decided that we would go to the downtown area and look at all the Christmas lights. We went to college in Richmond, so the city is very pretty with all the lights and horse carriages, carollers, everything is very pretty at that time of the year. So we went there, and as we were walking I was checking out his pant pockets to see if I could see the indention of the ring. I couldn't, so I knew he wasn't going to ask me, even though it would be the perfect time, with the lights, decorations and everything. We kept walking, and we went to Canal Walk. This is an old civil war place in the downtown Richmond area. We walked, I was walking a little fast, it was cold, and I knew he wasn't going to ask, so I wanted to hurry and get back to a place with heat. The next thing I know, he sits me down on this bench, and gets on his knee pulls the ring from his pant pocket (he had on his "golf" pants, and in the top there is a small pocket for golf tees) and says, "Sharon Rebekah Barker, Will you Marry Me?" I had told myself repeatedly that I was not going to cry when he asked me, well I started crying, and couldn't help but say YES!

Right after he asked me, our future wedding song came on and we danced our first dance being engaged. The song was I Swear by John Michael Montgomery.

Aug 8th On our one year anniversary he took me to a lake called Willow Bay and he brought food that he cooked himself. While I was eating he went and got a stick and wrote it in the sand. He called me over and told me to read it. It said " will you be my wife" and then he got down on knee and he took the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him. And 5 minutes later his cell phone kept ringing cause curious friends wanted to know what I said, and of course I said "YES".

Aug 16th When I was 18 years old, Chris proposed to me so UN-expectedly!! We were actually bowling one night (midnight bowling) and he had the DJ announce our "song"-Stand by Me, and he asked me as soon as I finished a fram, and we danced to our song on the seats at the bowling alley!!! I was so surprised and happy!!!!!
