Satin Wedding Purse Project (By Sew Easy Textiles)
Materials
- 5/8 Yd. White Bridal Satin
- 20" x 20 1/2" Fusible Pellon Interfacing
- 1-5/8" Yd. 2" Iridescent Ruffled Lace
- 1 Yd. 4mm Iridescent Pearls by the Yard
- 3 Ribbon Roses
- 2/3 Yd. 1/8" Satin Ribbon
- Velcro Tab Closure
- Cool Melt Glue Gun or Designer Tacky Glue
- 26 Ga. Craft Wire
- Needle and Thread, Sewing Machine
Instructions:
- Purse: Cut two pieces satin 10" x 20 1/2" and fuse
Pellon Interfacing to wrong side.
- Cut 20" Iridescent Ruffle Lace and run gathering
stitch just below binding. Gather lace, fold back lace
ends and pin evenly in place to right side along top edge
of rectangle. Stitch to hold 3/8" away from edge with ruf-
fled lace facing inward. Remove lace binding.
- To form purse flap- mark dot on each side 6" down
from top of rectangle. With right sides together, using
1/2" seam allowance, stitch second rectangle to first
starting at 6" dot, continuing around top and down to
second 6" dot. Be sure to keep sides of Ruffled Lace out
of seam allowance. Sew 1/2" seam across bottom.
- Clip to but not through mark on side seam. Trim
seam allowance, clip corners and press seams flat.
Turn purse right side out.
- Fold bottom edge up to meet clipped edge. With 1/2"
seam allowance, sew side seams together. Finish seam
by serging or zigzagging raw edges. Turn purse right
side out.
- Decoration: Beginning at center of purse flap, snake and loop pearls
along bottom edge. Position with center loop hanging below flap edge and side
loops pointed toward corner. Glue/sew in place.
- Cut 12" Irid. Ruffled Lace. Fold back wire end 1/2" and feed smooth end
through lace binding, gather tightly, twist wire ends to hold, clip excess
wire ends. Glue lace edges to close. Repeat for 2 more rosettes.
- Cut 8" of 1/8" satin ribbon and 3" Pearls. Form 2 loop bow and wire
pearls in center. Glue to center of rosette. Glue ribbon rose to center of
bow. Repeat for two more rosettes.
- Glue rosettes to purse flap in slight "V" position with center rosette
lower than side rosettes.
- Attach Velcro tab closure to inside purse flap and to purse front.
